1. Who we are
Mason (formerly Section Library) is a Shopify app provided by Optify ("Optify," "we," "us," or "our"), 16 Rue Cuvier, 69006 Lyon, France. This policy explains how we handle information when you install and use Mason, and when you visit this page. For the merchant information described below, Optify is the data controller.
2. Information we collect
- Store and owner information: when you install Mason, Shopify shares your store name and domain, and the store owner's name, email address, phone number, and physical address.
- Theme and Online Store content: your themes, theme files, sections, templates, and Online Store pages. Mason reads them to detect your brand kit and import existing sections, and writes to them to install the sections, templates, and pages you create.
- Products and collections: product and collection information that Mason accesses to build sections and pages around your catalog and to apply the templates you choose.
- Prompts and generated content: the instructions you write, the brand kit detected from your theme (such as colors, fonts, and store description), and the sections and pages Mason generates for you.
- Plan and usage information: your plan, subscription status, and AI credit usage. Charges are processed by Shopify; we never receive your payment card details.
- Technical and support information: basic logs and diagnostic events needed to operate and secure Mason, and anything you send us when contacting support.
Mason does not request access to your customers' personal information, such as their names, contact details, or orders.
3. AI processing
To generate sections and pages, Mason sends your prompt, your brand kit, and the store or theme content relevant to that request to third-party AI model providers, such as Google's Gemini models. We only send what is needed for the generation you request. Generated content is returned to Mason and installed in your theme only when you choose to install it.
4. How we use information
- Provide Mason: detect your brand kit, generate and install sections, templates, and pages, and import sections between themes.
- Manage your plan, AI credits, and billing through Shopify.
- Provide customer support and send service, account, and policy communications.
- Maintain security, prevent misuse, diagnose failures, and improve Mason.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We process this information to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving Mason, to meet legal obligations, and, where required, on the basis of your consent.
5. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with Shopify, which hosts your store and processes Mason charges; with AI model providers as described above; with service providers that support hosting, storage, email, and customer support on our behalf; when required by law; or as part of a corporate transaction. Service providers may use information only to provide their services to us.
6. Storage, retention, and deletion
We keep your store information for as long as Mason is installed. After you uninstall Mason, Shopify sends us a request to erase your store's data, and we delete it, except for information we must keep to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations.
Sections, templates, and pages that Mason installs are written to your Shopify theme, so they are stored in your store rather than on our servers and remain there until you remove them. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, and to receive a copy of it. To make a request, contact us at the address below. We may need to verify your identity first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the CNIL in France.
8. International processing and children
Shopify, AI model providers, and our service providers may process information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Mason is a professional tool for merchants and is not directed to children.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Mason changes. We will revise the effective date and provide additional notice when required. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to contact@optify.agency or by mail to Optify, 16 Rue Cuvier, 69006 Lyon, France.
